The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) expresses its firm condemnation of the ongoing campaign of aggression, economic warfare, and imperialist pressure exerted by the United States against the people and government of Cuba.
The CPS is alarmed by statements from President Donald Trump indicating intentions to address U.S. policy towards Cuba following actions against Iran. These remarks highlight the persistent imperialist objectives of the United States, aiming to undermine Cuba, a symbol of anti-imperialist resistance.
Recent reports indicate an escalation in sanctions, increased pressure on critical sectors of the Cuban economy, and heightened threats against the Cuban government. The executive orders issued on January 29, which intensified the oil blockade, exemplify a continued effort to tighten the longstanding blockade against Cuba.
Such measures have had detrimental effects on the livelihoods of ordinary Cuban citizens, attempting to enforce political compliance through economic hardship.
The CPS expresses concern regarding the reported visit of CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Cuba on May 14, where threats against the revolutionary government were allegedly communicated, referencing past regime-change operations in Venezuela. This pattern aligns with a historical precedent of U.S. interference and destabilization efforts throughout Latin America.
Recent actions targeting Cuban financial institutions, including the military-owned conglomerate GAESA and the Cuban-Canadian joint venture Moa Nickel S.A., illustrate the economic warfare waged against the Cuban populace.
These sanctions have severely impacted operations involving Canadian mining company Sherritt International, jeopardizing the livelihoods of thousands of workers and their communities.
The CPS rejects the assertion that these actions are driven by genuine concerns for democracy or human rights. The focus on Cuba’s strategic natural resources, particularly rare earth minerals, nickel, and cobalt, suggests that U.S. imperialism seeks to appropriate these assets for the benefit of multinational corporations, undermining Cuban sovereignty and self-determination.
The Communist Party of Swaziland urges the international communist movement, progressive organizations, trade unions, youth groups, women’s movements, and all anti-imperialist entities to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people in defense of their revolution.
The significant mobilization observed during recent May Day commemorations reflects the commitment of the Cuban people to protect their revolutionary achievements against foreign aggression.
The CPS reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the people of Cuba. An attack on Cuba represents an attack on all progressive and anti-imperialist forces globally.
The defense of the Cuban Revolution is an integral part of the broader struggle against imperialism, exploitation, and capitalist dominance.
