The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) is a Marxist-Leninist organization, founded on 9 April 2011 by dedicated men and women of Swaziland. Its formation marked a significant milestone in the history of the country, offering the Swazi people a socialist alternative and perspective. The CPS emerged at a critical moment, when Swaziland most urgently needed political direction and leadership to guide the nation toward socialism through a revolutionary transformation of society.
The party’s mission is to dismantle the entrenched capitalist system and the country’s monarchic-autocratic governance—both of which exist in symbiosis. The monarchy, reinforced by the Tinkhundla system, maintains its authority through a distorted and selective application of traditional customs, effectively sustaining a system of monarchic dictatorship. The CPS stands to challenge and ultimately replace this system with a society rooted in social justice, equality, and collective ownership.
