25 June 2025
The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) extends its heartfelt congratulations to the people and government of Mozambique on the momentous occasion of their 50th anniversary of independence (celebrated on June 25, 2025). This milestone marks five decades of sovereignty, resilience, and progressive struggle since Mozambique’s liberation from Portuguese colonial rule in 1975.
Mozambique’s independence was achieved through the heroic efforts of FRELIMO (Mozambique Liberation Front), a movement rooted in anti-colonial and socialist principles. The CPS acknowledges this shared legacy of liberation struggles across Southern Africa.
The CPS emphasizes the revolutionary solidarity between Swaziland and Mozambique, both of which have faced colonial and neo-colonial challenges. Mozambique’s support for liberation movements in the region (including during apartheid) is a testament to its commitment to Pan-Africanism.
While celebrating this achievement, the CPS recognizes Mozambique’s ongoing struggles against poverty, inequality, and external interference like the insurgency in Cabo Delgado. The Party reaffirms its support for Mozambique’s sovereignty and socialist development path.
The CPS urges progressive forces in Southern Africa to strengthen ties in the fight against imperialism, capitalism, and authoritarianism, drawing inspiration from Mozambique’s resilience.
The Communist Party of Swaziland salutes Mozambique’s 50 years of independence as a beacon of hope for oppressed peoples. We stand in solidarity with your journey toward true economic and social liberation.
Viva Mozambique!Viva Frelimo!Viva
